UV Film versus UV Pen

Hi all

First is a picture of a UV film being promoted currently around the traps on a well known UV reactive lure - You can barely see it so there is really no point to using it. This was done to see how much of a difference, if any, the film makes to a lure that already has UV reactive ability.

Second is a strip of the same on another non-UV reactive lure with the UV pen coloured in directly above it. They appear almost identical. UV pen cost is $6.99, UV film costs $9.95. In my opinion the pen is a much more versatile option.

Make up your own mind

I've found the Keimura stickers work well here in WA, maybe our UV light is different here... The Z-man grubs which are UV reactive are very popular here as well.
I've added the stickers to non-UV reactive lures with good results, they do seem to help on slow days.
As always, just my opinion!

Very interesting.

This UV pen you speak off, where can they be bought from?

Cheers

They've been around for years, usually near the squid jigs at tackle shops. I find they wash off lures fairly quickly, hence me using the stickers, but they are great on squid jigs.

Hi Rhet - They're available online but as they aren't a site sponsor it would be innapropriate to list where.

I'm thinkin of getting some for deep drop jigging, also you can get Halco catch scent that glows when it hits water.

The Halco is great, stinks like the proverbial though... You can see it leaving a bright UV trail of stench as it drops through the water

Reminds me of something similar I had in my tackle box as a kid, the smell brings back awesome memories

I prefer the film over the pen because firstly it does the job & secondly it doesn't take up room in my tackle box.
I buy the film that provides me with a small size round dot, very easy to apply quickly.
I shorebash alot so space & weight is a premium

Still the pen for me I think as the stickers would like having lure with hemorrhoids hanging off the back end.

Both look like good products and have their pros & cons I guess.

I must say though that the review is not subjective, if a comparison is being made with another product shouldn't both be used in both pictures?

You have just used film in the first picture and not the pen I'm figuring that because the lure is an UV reactive colour anyway there would be little reaction from both products?

Putting uv film over a uv reactive lure isn't exactly the brightest strokes of genius either is it?
