Ive got a CT 50 that i use for my barra outfit... throws halco scorp 90s beautifully... dont know how it would go with the lighter lures though
i personally prefer the small spinning reels for jigging etc but as you said for flats work it would prob work a treat with the bigger breamin lures |

ive got a calcutta 100 it works ok for the larger bream lures and even some of the heavier jigs etc , but it just doesnt have the finesse a light spinning outfit has - why i thought the CT 50 would be better, can hold lighter line etc.
the problem with casting reels and light lures though is that the reels rely on centrifugal force to be able to let line out -the heavier the lure the quicker the spindle can spin up and let more line out. still if youre on the ball you can use them - they are far better at actually controlling a lure and detecting bites etc.

Had a 50 spooled with 2kg Platypus Pretest and used to throw Laser Pro 45's & Tilsan minnows off it and rarely encountered prob's. Always made sure I was possied to cast with the wind though. I personally wouldn't go back to baitcasters after changing to spinning reels.

Love the Calcutta series!
I've got the 50, 400 and 700, and recon they're hard to beat, with a smooooth drag, but not up to the par of a threadline for the real light stuff. Overpriced, but I'm happy to pay it, coz I figure, "buy good, buy once!" Ranger |

I think the lightest you can cast with the Calcutta 50 is around 1/12oz...........
