Strengthening a Floor

Hi All

Just looking for some advice / opinions. I have a 395 Allycraft shadow basically Quintex Explore or Stacer Proline. These are a great little boat, nice and lite for one person to manage. What I am starting to notice on mine though is that it dings fairly easily from hitting small things in the water, I fish the Nepean and upper Hawkesbury , lots of little sticks and logs. I think the bottom sheets in these boats are only 1.6mm think, (aluminium foil) and I was thinking of a way to improve the strength. The only thing I could come up with was sticking something that would be flexible to follow the pressed floor. I was thinking of something like the tar paper deadening material that is often stuck to the inside of car door or on the floor. This stuff sticks well and gets pretty hard. I think it would also make the boat ride a bit better and less vibration.

A comments or advice welcome, is there a better way if doing this.

Hi ,some time ago, being the owner of a quinie I had a similar problem, but what I did wasn't for strength,if you can get to a trucking supply place,or auto dealers,(utes) there are mats made of recycled tyres made for the application of sound deadening and product protection against vibration,I don't know how much they cost or whether they're even still being made,as I got mine for nix, hope this helps, nigger.

Be careful with rubber and aluminium, I seem to remember something about only particular types of rubber being able to be used, I believe it had to be carbon free or something like that due to corrosion risk, maybe look at rhinoline? they claim to use it on boatshttp://www.rhinolinings.com.au/auto/....asp?pageId=11 and also this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U22wPBAOUS0

That stuff is near bullet proof. My thought turns to if the hull requires a repair then having someone weld it would impossible.
