Exmouth Gulf depth?

Curious question to the Exmouth regulars. What is the average depth when fishing inside the gulf? 3-4 meters?

Cheers

And I know without navionics it would be deeper than that as some quite large vessels frequent ex mouth gulf. Cheers

Mate, really depends where you are fishing. the deeper areas in the middle are 10-20m, but it gets a lot shallower on the mainland side.

In summary, Max 20m, min, well less than a meter.

def need a good chart i say.

once your away from either coast its fairly deep but there are some sand bars & flats, plus little islands that jump up out of no where.

also around the bigger islands there are a few rock bars which dont stand out that well if there is some colour in the water.

i'd call the average for 6-10m most of the time, apart from the shallow bits, if that makes sense?

but tides up to 1.8 or 2m change everything, the flat you zipped over on the way out in the morning may be out of the water on the way home.

Yep same as steve. Close eyes, finger on the trim up and fingers crossed

There are some areas 20-25m deep. Basically the further south and further east you go there are some shallow sand/rubble flats that could bother you. Also if you try and stay too close to the land there is some nasty coral outcrops that could get you unstuck too.

Looked in my room for my chart then realised I only have Dampier Archepaligo, Walpole and Geo Bay. The exmouth chart covers a bit of the gulf but not much in the bottom and eastern sides.

Be careful of the rock bars down the bottom of the gulf if you go down there. It can be a bit tricky down around those islands because they can be 5 times their normal size at low tide.
