Cleaning down my Mercury 2 stroke

Hi Guys,

I was hoping to tap into some of the wisdom on here regarding engine cleaning.

I have noticed when I take my engine cover off my 40hp, there a quite a build up of salt inside my engine housing. Is there something I can use to clean this off without damaging my motor?

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Pat

my question would be ,why is there salt build up in my motor housing?

i think new seal(s) required. asap

regards to salt there now, use a dry cloth to loosen it then the good old vacuum to suck it out

but to have salt in there , and as you say quite a bit, that means water is getting in and quite a bit as well. you need to stop that as a priorty.

definately do not wash the motor down with out th ecowling on.
