Stessel/Makocraft 3.9 Estuary Tracker

Just wondering if anyone out there in BM land owns or fishes out of one of these?

Looking at buying a second hand one with a 30hp Tohatsu 4stroke on the back. Any feed back would be much appreciated.

I have one, couldnt rate it highly enough.

Mine is fully decked with front and rear casting decks, livewell etc and plenty of underfloor storage, it is powered by a Yammy 3 Cylinder 30hp and although it isnt the fastest boat in the world it gets along at about 24 knots when 2 up with a full well, loaded with gear and a chewed up prop

It is a dog in rough water, like any shallow V Aluminium boat but that isnt what they are designed for....stability is and that is one thing it has in abundance.

If you are planning on using it for estuary and lake work you will be stoked, if you plan on heading out into the rough water then you might want to consider something of a different style or be willing to spend plenty of $$$ at the chiro

Ultimately I feel I made the right choice and after fishing from mine for a few years everything else of that style seems to narrow and cramped! gotta love a 2m beam on a 3.9m boat

If you have any questions fire away, I know this boat inside and out

As what luke said, plus some.

i have the 420 Estuary trecker tournament, full decked front and rear with a 2 stroke 30 hp mariner, gets me to where i need to be. Ive also got an electric motor on the front and i get 23 kts with two up and all the other stuff. I dont use the out board that much as most of my fishing is spent using the electric.

I cant rate these boats enough. Same again if you have any questions please ask.

Cheers

Adam

Thanks for the reply's fellas. I like my skinny water fishing so i don't plan on doing too much rough water traveling just a bit of wind chop hear and there.

How deep do you reckon the hull sits in the water with the motor up?

And how much petrol do you use on an average outing?

The boat I'm looking at doesn't have an electric or the mounting plate which could be a deal breaker just have to work out how much it will cost me to have one welded on which I'm guessing will stuff the paint.

I don't think i've ever taken any notice but i'd say it would be at least 3 or 4 inches maybe not even that it would sit in the water. All i know is i can put my boat into 0.2 of a metre with the outboard up.

As for the petrol usage, i've drained my tank dry on a day outing but that was 5am till 8pm and motored quiet a long way (Around Jervis Bay).

Cheers

You don't HAVE to get a plate welded on... I didn't with my Dory.

This saved burning the paint (see the metal plate.. held down by 3 bolts. Quite solid:

^^^ Like he said, mine doesnt have a plate welded, just the leccy mounted with a couple of stainless bolts.

as for fuel usage, most I have ever managed to use in a day is 18L and that was with a LOT of water covered, this is with a 2 stroke 3 cylinder 30hp yammy.

Fuel usage wise.. I get about 3km to the litre in my 4.1 dory with my big USA made 40hp merc when cruising.

With a 30hp four stroke on that hull you'd be unlucky to get any worse than 6km per litre imo.

Thanks guys.

Being able to bolt the electric straight on is a relief was starting to think I may have to spend 500 plus bucks to have one made and put on. I was thinking that a 4 stroke on this boat would use SFA petrol
