Best Soft Plastics for Bass?
Hi guys,
I'm going on a Bass trip with a friend this weekend and I'm not real keen on losing my Hardbodies in snags so I was wondering which soft plastics work on Bass? I've used the Z-Man GrubZ before and they work really well but what other soft plastic do they like? Any help would be greatly appreciated ![]() Cheers, Anders

Plastics are boring.... Haha. Just fish 10lb leader and tighten your drag you'll be hard presses to lose any. Just pull the fishes head off as soon as its hooked and get it away from home and you'll be right.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. What brand Hardbodies do you find works best in murky/brackish water?

Atomics paddle tails 2.5 inch (i think) in smoke yellow core, black core and rainbow bass.
Slider 3" paddle tails in yellow core and muscadine powerbait T tails in black and gold. 65mm squidgey fish in black and gold, silver fox, mint jelly or gary glitter. on round gama jig heads from 1/16th in reall shallow water to 1/2 oz in deep is you are fishing dams. Just chuck them in to the snags and slow roll out with no pauses, works best for me. any 2-3 inch grub in black, brown or naturals greens should be good on a bet spin or chuck the plastics above on a bets. If you need any more help don't hesistate to PM me Cheers Chris

Any of your bream crank baits will work mate, jerkbaits to and if your game osp powerdunks and blitz's work a treat.

They hit nearly any hard body, they get a bit pickier with plastics and spinnerbaits. If you take a few of the plastics and HB's suggested you should be able to work them out. A few surface lures for early morning and late afternoon or in small creeks all day would help too.

Pretty much what Bobby just said mate, they'll eat anything you put in front of them at one time or another, just a matter of casting the whole tacklebox each day to find out what they want to eat, once you crack it they'll come in thick and fast.

Been getting Bass on atomic cranks lately in muddy prawn and ghost gill brown but I don't reckon it's the colour, more the action of the lure

Thanks for all the help guys
I'm fishing the Coolongolook River, it's fairly murky water up there. I will see if my local tackle shop has any of the suggested plastics I have some Atomic's and Cranka's hardbodies so I will try them thanks guys

Thats true haha, some days they just have lock jaw, a dropping baromoter usually plays a role in that. And sometimes there just isn't a heap of bass where you're fishing haha

The black core atomically go alright in dirty water if that's what's your fishing.

Ive personally found a TT beetlespin with an 1/8th jighead and a 3 inch Z MAN minnow to be a very effective bass lure in dirty water. And that was your fishing a cross between a hardbody and a plastic, and it doesnt hurt the bank if you lose them either.
