Kangoku Shad is my all time best flattie slayer.

Although any deep crank/shad will do the damage with an appropriate colour to suit the conditions, flathead generally arent the smartest fish and will eat anything that is presented well for them so give any deep divers a crack and im sure you will nail some in no time

Hi mate

I've had great success on the Cranka Shad when actually targetting flathead, BBQ prawn, camo prawn and pink bitts being the stand outs

I've caught my 3 biggest flathead on Cranka lures with a 80cm flathead taking a liking to a crank, a 75cm crock taking a like to Cranka Vibe and a 74cm fish eating a blue gil shallow crank.

I've caugh them on chubbies, sammy's, skinny pops, stiffy poppers, zx blades, cult minnows...

do you really need that many question marks????????????????

anyway you will catch flathead on just about any crank bait, bright and flashy colours will work better

I'm with forsterfisho on this. Cranka shads in the BBQ prawn colour work great in my area.
I'll also throw in the Atomic deep cranks and TT Blade too.

The main factor for a flathead hardbody is that it is running down on the bottom.

As per the previous comments, good advice.

A good cheapy that works really well for good size flathead are the old manns stretch 5+ etc. The advantage with the stretch are they are cheap, run well in current, dive almost vertically down (so you're on the bottom quicker), and they dig up sand and bang in to structure which sends flattys crazy. One of the bigger online tackle stores had the red head colour being cleared out at $2.50 each becuase they had blemishes (still will work heaps well on a flatty), still on too.

Also I find when I fish my ecogear cx35's for bream I always get a bycatch of flattys; ok if you're running good leader, but heart in mouth stuff if you're running light for bream bites.
