Ultra-Bite Fish Scent (Does it Work?)

Hi Guys

I was wondering has anyone used that new Ultrabite fish attractant on their SP's as I have been doing some reading and the claims they make about the stuff is pretty impressive. They even go so far as to say that the stuff gets better results from larger more mature fish than from smaller fish. It is scientifically designed to provote fish into a fishing pattern.

If its true I'm getting some but it would be good to get some input from someone who has tested it on Australian species first.

Look forward to any repley's

I bought a bottle of the stuff last week. Aniseed. Just thought we would give it a trundle and see how it went.

We went out wading in low tide Port phillip bay. Have caught heaps of frogs doing this before. We actually tested the "ultra bite" by one of us using it and the other going without.

Well both of us got jack shyt so the jury is still out.

Thanks

Thanks for the input. I haven't heard anyone that has used it and had an instrumental difference.

Big Red where abouts in Port Phillip Bay do you wade. I'm originally from Lara and have fished around Grammer school and avalon to alcoa quite extensively. Good fishing to be had around the Yatchs in the Grammer school lagoon for bream, trevally, flathead and the occasional pinkie on the SP's.

Cheers

Generally we go wading (low tide permitting) around Mcrae/Rosebud/Rye. Just because its close by.

You get a lot of deep gutters at low tide and the larger Flatties tend to be in close to shore at this time. There is no structure to fish around, and you just have to work the gutters over and over.

Have scored good frogs in the past & even some small salmon near rosebud pier.

Went out over Australia day weekend and got nada.

Yeah, we went out on Sunday off Dromana, attempting to get a coupla pinkies. Ended up catching one pinkie @ about ten cms! along with about 40 decent flatties.

Had a coupla beginners on board who were happy just harvesting the bay rats, but it was a very ordinary day.

I used some Ultrabite last Sunday off The Nobbies. We were actually heading out to have a go at Mako's on SP but the wind got up to 15-20 so I called it quits. Anchored in about 4.5M of water, fishing for whiting and punching the burley pot as well. Within minutes there were mullet at the back of the boat just mooching around feeding on the burley. I squirted a bit of Ultrabite on the surface and within 30 seconds they were going nuts and within 5 minutes I had a 7ft shark trying to eat my prop.

Dipped the baits into U/b but there seemed to be no significant difference in the hookup rates.

Jury still out, but the response of the mullet was interesting.

So what your saying is that surfers shouldn't put ultra bite on their wet suits if they want to keep their legs.

I was talking to my local tackle store owner and he said that he sold two boxes of the ultrabite in 2 days.

ballnuts,

first of all i'm not doubting the use of ultra bite, as ive not tried it yet, but just because its getting sold doesn't mean that it works. there has been a lot of ads for it lately that i've seen so that would explain the high level of sales.

i've heard that the ultra bite is quite watery and therefore may not cling to the plastics as well, a solution to that, which is meant to be improving its effectiveness is to mix it with a thicker catch scent, a gel like one. the specific brand name i can't think of but i know it comes in blue and green tubes, one for fresh, one for saltwater. it might be Sure Catch ???

hope that helps

cheers

ps i'll be storing my fishing gear a long way from my wetsuit from now on !

Thanks for the advice mate

Very good point about storing your wetty out of the way. As ultrabite has no smell it would be a good way to get revenge on some arsole that keeps dropping in on you just put a few squirts of the UB on his wetty in the car park and problem solved just sit back and wait for the news headlines.

Only being serious

Whats this ultra-bite stuff ......... is the same as all the rest or a slight variation, i got garlic stuff spike it, slime it spray, and looks like i`ll be adding ultra bite - now I'll need 3 hands to apply it all, so what your saying is your softies don`t go n the water without some type of scenting. But what it comes down to is regardless of whether it works, just gotta have it.

cheers
