more daiwa sold than shimano

I've noticed a LOT more 2nd hand Daiwa reels being sold on ebay and even on this forum than Shimanos (mid to high end gear). Is this indicative of people's satisfaction levels of Daiwa and Shimano.. ie more people are happier with their shimanos and than daiwas.. thoughts?

I think its more the case that more people buy Daiwa other then Shimano.

Cant sell a shimano if you dont have one.

I would say Daiwa is a lot more common in the mid to higher range in lure fishos.

I have about 6 fishing partners and only 1 uses Shimano.

I have 8 2000-2500 size Daiwas. When I want a new one, a old one has to go.

I think you'll find if you have a look at other sites where they target larger fish such as kings, tuna etc most of them tend to use Shimano. I use both brands but for light lure fishing for bream, whiting, flattys and the like, I prefer Daiwa.

This is just my opinion though, and don't want to start another mud slinging contest.

Interesting...probably all valid points. However my uncle once used daiwa now is only using shimano, hence my question. I own mostly daiwa stuff even before stumbling across this forum. Still have my 2500 regal from 15 years ago never serviced but surprisingly smooth for a cheapie after all these years.

The tackle shop I used to work at sold maybe 1 Daiwa reel to every 7/8Shimano.

The shop also does in house reel servicing and Daiwa was by far the dominant brand being returned for servicing/repair, interestingly it was a lot of the higher end gear being returned

I'm with Tonka, not trying to start another battle of the brands

Daiwa reels last long enough to be sold second hand, shimano fall to bits before you get a chance to sell them

This kind of statement make me laugh, I've owned countless diawa and shimano reels an have never had any fail. Good maintance and using the reel for its intended purpose is the key.
IMHO alot more ppl buy cheap shimanos than cheap daiwas. Could be the difference in sale figures. All my old mans mates use shimano albeit cheap ones.
Shimano seem to have more airtime on tv shows etc too. Also promoted in chain tackle store like tackleworld, DohDohDoh etc more than daiwa.
I like them both if the specs suit what I need I'll buy it.
The question ppl should ask is why don't shimano bring some of there jdm Rods and reels to Australia like Shallow spool 2000 2500 etc

As far as Ebay goes ur assertion is wrong. A quick check shows that there are 162 shimanos that are up fro auction only and there are 109 Daiwa reels.

As far as this forum I reckon there are more people on here who use Daiwa than Shimano, simple as that.

For the record I use both.

Yep you get what you pay for regardless of brand.
Piranhas probably a pup just looking to stir up a debate I'd say.

Bait runners cheap and nasty ??? are u for real, u have obviously never put one through years of abuse. They are one of the toughest reels in their price range.
I have 6 of em that have copped a beating over many snapper seasons and all they ever got was a spray with the hose and once a year they got sprayed with inox and they run like new.
I have many mates who chase snapper like its a religion and all of them run a fleet of Baitrunners.
Seriously, y do people bag reels/rods they have no idea about.
