Which reel do you use?

Hi

I have been spining for bream and dusky flathead for many years now and have tried many different rods and currently my favourite reel when using either soft plastics or hard body lures for bream or dusky flathead are as follows:

1. Shakespeare K2 Xtreme XFD

what is your favourite reel?

Hi Mr Brown

I was given a Shimano Sahara 4000 with 6lb fireline for Christmas
to put on my ( home built) samuri 7ft S700 great reel great rod.
Just got back today from the south coast bulled in some good flat head, Keaton as allways got the bigest fish 79cm.
I put an abu 5600i c4 (left hand) on the samuri S400 TOOK A BIT OF GETING USE TO but bulled in some good fish using a mans +10
that is so old it has very little paint left, I try to buy a new one each year, but end up mis-placing it and going back to the old one ( they do not make this one now, black top with a red blob under the bib.
Fiona caught a nice Bream.
49 TODAY need to spend more time fishing.
Tom,

fav reel

my reel is an okuma fina 30, want to upgrade to an av 20 soon tho, but the fina is a good reel that has landed me all my fish like mulloway and tailor and bream, goes to show you dont need a good reel to catch good fish.

Hi Gary

Just a friendly question, this is the second post you've made mentioning Shakespeare gear as you favorite, do you have an association with them?

I'll happily tell the world my favorite gear, but if I have an association with any of the products I list, then I will qualify it as such.

That way I can't be accused of underhand marketing, and the guys and gals can take the advice with a grain of salt.

As for reels, I only use Okuma gear, yes I am associated with them, but was using them long before I received any sponsorship.

My personal favorite is the Epix EF15, unfortunately you can't get it in this country, it came in by accident and I was lucky enough to score one

It is great to see these days that, irrelevent of brand, there are some fantastic little spinning reels at really good value for money prices on the market, something that wasn't really available only a few years ago unless you wanted to spend decent dollars.

Cheers,

Hi Dave

When I placed these two post I was only trying to find out what other anglers use as their favourite reels when spining for bream and flathead. I appolige if I have done anything incorrect, as I was not trying to underhand the market.

Now as for my association with Shakespeare. I have been using Skakespeare gear, along with many other brands since I was a kid and it was about 14 years ago that I wrote and designed a national recreational fishing course for TAFE that my association with the tackle industry association grew( currently running at 5 TAFE colleges). Every now and then I do get the opportunity to borrow and try out some of the new gear that Shakespeare are going to bring, or already have brought into the country. Once I have finished playing with it I then hand it back to them (report included).

But, Shakespeare is not the only brand that I use. Currently I am using a Okuma Epix EB60 and a Shimano 3500 and 4500 Baitrunner for fishing for bream, silver trevally and snapper with baits, My Alvey's (there are too many to list) are for when I fish off the rocks or beach for bream, silver trevally, luderick, drummer and snapper.

Thanks

I've got a shimano symetre 1000 that I've had for about 4 years of faultless operation.

Just bought a new stradic (only 'cos the price was too irresistable to turn down )
