setup

Hi! Could someone please detail what gear i need to start targetting bream. Specifically the Line i should use and maybe some tips of what bait, lures etc. I will be fishing from the shore if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

Firstly, invest in some Fireline. It is dynamite on all fishing. Have a look at the online store on this site for beginners kits, which include a range of good lures which are proven fish catchers.
Good Luck and welcome to the site, you will love this new sport, believe me!!!

If you've got an average rod/reel combo that's good for a start

As long as it's fairly light, it should do the job (around 6ft should be good)

You don't have to get Fireline to start off - but it certainly increases the hookups and sensitivity

Some jig heads in the 1/32 - 1/8 Oz range, some assorted 2" plastic tails and you're away! Have a look through the 'Online Store' for some ideas.

When you get used to it a bit (or addicted like most of us on here ) and see that you like it, you'll be spending a bit on upgrading, just read the posts and search the forums for any info you need - or ask

If you don't go the Fireline option, try and stick to 8lb line or less, you may loose a few jigs but you'll cast a whole lot further than with heavier stuff.

To quote Nike "Just Do It" - you'll love it

Cheers,

Dave

Come on guys, what about hard bodies.

I'd look at these 6 to start with.

Oar-Gee - gold and Matty Frazer

Halco - Scorpion - Fluro Pink and gold chrome

Attack - breammaster gold

Yozuri - gold snap shad (I hear they may be continuing the importing as there is a new wholesaler)

HTH and good luck.

If you've got time have a look around in the old forum threads under rods/reels/setting up gear theres alot of good advice in there for others who were also looking at what gear to get. Have a look around at other ppl's setups and preferences and choose what you think you'l feel comfortable spending your money on.

With lures theres a whole heap of them that work and the guys here are constantly trying out new stuff and giving back helpful feedback on them. You cant go wrong though with most of the stuff off breammaster.
