New Exist

I just saw a magor Australian retailer selling Diawa Exist EX 2506 for $699.
Do you reckon this is a good deal?

No it's not a new exist but the previous model. Still pretty good value I think.

I thought you were talking about a current model meaning "new" I highly doubt major tackle stores have 2nd hand licenses so obviously they would be new.

A lot of local stores are dropping the price on steez's at the moment. Just a matter of looking around a bit.

I ended up buying one of these exists in the 2500 size as the 2506 was sold out.
I assume the different spool sizes are interchangable. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a 2506 spool from Diawa.
To clear things up it is not the 2012 Exist but the model before. The reel is new, just old stock.

The 2506 spool will fit mate, I'm thinking (even tho they're butt ugly on exists) a 2506 RCS spool will be way cheaper and I already have a couple. I like the stock spool putting out 3KG of drag rather then the RCS doing 7KG, i'll be running 3LB fluro on my spare and (even tho I haven't tested it yet) the 7KG RCS spool should have more start up inertia which = bad news with light line and Japanese lures.

Anyone help on that front?

Any of the pre-magseal RCS spools will fit your Exist. I doubt that Daiwa will still have a spare one but it never hurts to try. There are lots of retailers that still carry the pre-magseal RCS spools, if you drop me a PM I can give you a few places that may be able to help if Daiwa don't have one.

Cheers
Shane
