Stradic fj owners, any dramas yet?
G'day all, I'm considering buying another Stradic fj, this time a 2500. My 4000 is all good but it hasn't had a heap of use yet, one complaint would be the drag clicker spring is crap and it's gone weak already meaning my drag when peeling off is a bit quiet,
Has anyone else had them since they came out and any reasons why I shouldn't buy another? |

I was devastated when my clicker went (on the FA). The last thing I feel like doing, when a beast is charging deep into the pylons, is look down to see if the spool is spinning ![]() I transferred the line over to the spare spool that had never been used, and got a brand new clicker and a drag that was smooth as silk That clicker is still clicking today

Bought one for my old man a month ago, in the 6000 size. He fishes for snapper off the rocks and has been using it about 5 times a week.
No reported issues so far.

Shimano should be able to supply you with a clicker assembly. They sent me one for a sienna fd I had.
Btw - is this thread not visible to anyone else in the reels section? I can only see it from the main forum index as it was the last thread modified... |

I use Stradic's almost exclusively. Never had any major issues with any of them. I use my 2500 a lot around the jetties here dragging Bream from the Pylons on an almost locked drag and have never had any complaints other than the drag clicker going on one reel. I just took it to my local and they fixed it in no time for next to nothing. Does seem to be a bit of an issue with Shimano reels but if that's the only complaint then they are doing pretty well for the price imo. Very hardy reels and well worth the money.

I liked the 1000FI, still wish I had one just to bash around.
The 3000FJ I owned was still a nice bit of kit, never really got big fish on it though. Hooked up to a barra in the weeds around 800+, pulling near locked drag with ease. Drag did perform well, sounded pretty hefty but still performed flawlessly. In the end, I still think it definately carries on the stradic rep pretty nicely. PS; Love the change back to white.

Almost
I use 2500 reels mainly around the Jetties here and get them out fast, if you don't pull them out fast then say bye bye Bream often. Blackies don't usually pull quite as much as Yellows. I lose less Bream and lures doing this than i do if i let the Bream have much run. Just what works for me. A very large percentage of my Breaming is done around Jetties ect being in Paynesville.

Bream around racks/pylons you need a locked drag or it's all over
![]() When I first started fishing racks I forgot to do up my drag, lesson learnt... |
