100 - 120 amp hr deep cycle minimum. Plenty of charger options but something that would charge at 10amps or more would be useful.

I have a 55lb minnkota with a 110 amp AGM ( absorbed glass matt ) deep cycle batery, gives me 20 hrs of trolling at 2km/h. I charge this with a ctek 15000 battery charger. Get a good battery charger, not a supercheap one, been there done that. The battery is an ulimate, weighs 37kgs. Very happy with battery and charger.

I bought a fullriver brand 120amh deep cycle battery just over 12 mths ago, using it to troll lures, yesterday,i was lucky to get 6 hrs out of it trolling,im sure its on the way out,i rang the distributor, they say only 12 mths warranty, but on fullrivers website,it says 5 yr warranty, but the supplier i got it off, said to me when i told him this, was, dont believe what it says on there website,i wont be buying that brand again,im sure i should be gettin a lot more out of it,its running a 54lb watersnake on a 4mtr tinny edgetracker, and using the ozcharge 10amp charger to charge it with, which is not a cheap charger. What brand battery should i go for next time do you guys suggest...
Cheers...

Hey RA I have a Puma DC27 with my Riptide 55lb and it has been going great for almost 5 years now. Like the rest of the guys said, I reckon u must have a good charger, I have a Cteck and love it.
Although I have never fished with a water snake I have been told the tend to run the battery down faster than a minn kota ??? Maybe this could be a reason why ur battery didnt last to long.

Hi RR,its been fine up until recently since i fitted the new E-tec,not sure if its the Etec draining it or not,but i was told the E-tec has a huge charger on the motor, and would not need to put the battery on a battery charger again,so since xmas when new motor was fitted,i have not charged the battery with a charger, and also,i had not done many fishing trips using elecy trolling,on 2 recent trips,i was trolling all day, then after about 6 hrs, battery has become flat, after the first trip,i put it on charger before the next trip, but same thing happend,6 hrs gone, and flat again,my charger is a exclent charger and made for the job..Seems bit strange as everything was good with battery and charger, until now.....
Cheers...

I'm confused - you have one battery connected to the Etec and Watersnake or two batteries both being charged by the Etec?

My understanding was with the new X stage chargers that leaving the battery on charge was the best way of extending the life of the battery.

Just an observation: When I purchased my Deep Cycle there are chargers specifically suited to them, especially the AGM. I would have thought that the charger on the outboard would have been more suited to a normal deep crank (starter) battery.

I have a C-Tek charger and have had no problems

I've got 100amp (Ultimate AGM Type) & C-Tek Charger as well... works a treat!

I keep mine in the garage, so have to load/unload into the boat whenever needed... It's heavy so I'm glad I didn't go bigger size! It will run full day session no probs...
