I too would like to know where to put the dots on a lure. I imagine it all has to be very specific so u don't wreck the action of the lure.

Or is it a trial and error thing

Mate i don't don't use the dots but i do use the Tungsten putty or Solder wire twisted around the front treble. With the putty i normally put it just under the bib right in front of the front treble, The 38's need a fair bit of weight to get them suspending but it is well worth it.

Yeah guys its prob a trial and error thing until you get that lure ticking all the boxes, I might try some soldering wire around the front treble.. how many turns do you normally do breamobsession ? Have you ever found its had an effect on hook up rates ?
Cheers hicksy

Work out which suspend dot you want to use trial and error is probably the best method, put a dab of super glue on the dot and stick it on the lure.

Guess it depends on how thick the solder is.
I put 3 turns on both hooks of a chubby on the weekend and got it pretty close, just a real slow rise.
It caught fish, where it didn't before. So I'd say the hook up rate improved.

I found the best way to put the solder on the hooks was to grab a pretty long piece. Thread 1 end through the eye and lay it down the shank of hook the wrap the other end around the hook and the tag end.
Kind of like starting a rod binding.
Put too much on to start and trim little bits off until you get it just right.
If you know a better way, tell me.

Hey mate, sorry for late reply, been fishing. With the solder i flatten it out then cut strips with a ruler and stanley knife. The turns will really just depend how much you use. Just twist it around the front treble and test it out. May take a couple of goes to get it right at first. Does not negatively affect hook up at all in my experience.

Good tackle stores have adhesive lead strip for weighting lures it generally comes in a strip of about 30-40mm wide and about 500mm long and you just cut it to the size you want for each lure with a pair of scissors, peel backing paper off and stick in on your lure!

Sticking it under the chin (just behind the bib) or along the underside of the belly of the lure generally does not effect the lures action!

Tip for young players: If you cant find a good tackle store who stocks it look for a good golf store as I have heard a rumor that they also sell the same stuff for weighting golf clubs!

This stuff is super sticky and will not let go if applied to a dry lure!
Experiment with your lures untill you work out the correct amount of lead tape for each lure!

Note: if your lures slowly sink in cold fresh water then they will be close to susspending in full salt, with a bit of experimentation you willl get the hang of it!

Or better still just buy lures that are designed to suspend!

Cheers
Steersy
