Problem for casting the SP
Hi, I am a beginner for SP, I just tried it last week, but it doesn't work at all, as I can't cast it further than few meters?? I am using a 7 foot rod size 2500 reel, 1/16 size 2 jig and 2 kilo line, 4 kilo leaded. My question is should a use a weight or not?? If yes, what size is a better size ?? Please help!!!!

A 1/16 oz jighead should allow you to cast 25 metres at least iuf the rest of the outfit is matched to the task.
Your reel is of an appropriate size, and 2 kg line (asuming nylon monofilament) isn't a concern (something like 4 lb Fireline will cast better though). I wonder about your rod, you say it is a 7' rod, that is a common length, but what about the intended cast weight? What line class and cast weight is the rod designed for? Do you have a make and model of the rod?

Not sure about the detail for the rod , as it only show the lenght of the rod on it, maybe i need to buy a new rod for that. So any suggestion for the rod?? Or just go to the shop and ask for a 6 foot flicky rod??

Hi Patma,
I own 2 rods one 6' and the 7' The 6' is a diawa procaster x, and my 7' is my favo its an ian miller squidgy spin rod 2 peace for when im land based. Also as was said before use 4lb fire line i prefer the green only so i can see it better. Just my opinion.

Patma,
A couple of things to add. How old is your mono. If your mono is getting on a bit and has not been washed in fresh water after use in salt, it can become curled and makes it a pig to cast. One problem we don't have with fireline or braid. As for rods, the big limit for most is cost. My call for a mid priced rod would be a 6'6" Stella. There are a number of others and I belive Ira likes the Procaster (not exactly sure of the name) from Daiwa. Both of these are around the $90 to $100 mark. You can get other rods for around the $60 to $80 range from companies like Mitchell and so on, but I'm a firm believer in getting the best you can afford. I'm sure the other guys will add a few more to the list. Big thing is to take your reel in with you can fit it to the rod to see how it feels in your hands. We are ALL different and what may feel good to one guy may be crap to someone else. Keep an open mind, you never know what may pop up. Good luck.
