The Luvias in the 2500 come with a spare spool, I think they are a bit over $300.00

Not sure about cheaper reels

I think closer to $400.00 A sticker on a luvias box say $429.00 but that seem high, I know i didnt pay that

the Daiwa 2500 is bigger than a stradic 3000

What do you want to use it for? If you want to cross over between snapper and bream its ok. If its just for your standard southern estuary fishing a 2000 Daiwa would be fine in the cheaper models or a 2508 in the $$$ ones because they are much lighter

Shimano Rarenium 2500 comes with two spools, good drag and about $250. Really light too!

New 2011 Caldia feels pretty darn good in my opinion. No handle freeplay in the one that I have, no odd noises and just as smooth as my sol if not better. Flipping the bail arm over however, doesn't give that solid sounding clunk though.

SOL in 2500 size. Comes with a spare spool and 7 kg of drag!

Well within your price range. You won't regret it. Quality!

Cheers,

another vote for the rarenium.
2500 size has 10kg of drag - dunno if you'd ever need that much though.

10kg of drag would be.... AWESOME! hahaha nah wouldnt need, it, not goting a Sol for sure, dislike them greatly alot of my mates have Sols have got a horrible sound after not so long, so ill stay clear of them, thinking sustain fg on a black label? and just buying another spool in a few weeks
