Minn Kota Riptide SP iPilot

I have a new Riptide SP Saltwater iPilot. Other than a squirt down after use with a hose & freshwater just wondering if anybody does anything else? The top & bottom units are meant to be totally sealed against any ingress of anything. I suppose I could run it & spray it with freshwater after use in saltwater but is that overkill? Any ideas anyone?
