fished for 4 hours, it just wasn't happening, the wind came up at 7 am and i'd only been on the water for an hour but went for a paddle right up to the west end, heaps shallow, as in a foot of water.
I moved up towards the mouth and put on a #3 jelly prawn, got smashed on my second cast. It was a big bream, hit the plasso about 2 meters from the canoe and then preceeded to show me who was boss by running about 20 meters non-stop to the nearest oyester rack. ping, bye bye bream. so i got the shits went home. ps: now i definately want another rod, i'm thinkin' 6' IM6. |

the bay
Ah, big mumma!!!
Did you go for lizards too?! That sucks about that big ass bream! Why aren't you happy with the 'squidgy'? I think it does the job fine, but maybe you should get another shorter rod too. Wind+Canoe=disaster!. Maybe you should tighten your drag a bit and not let it run quite as hard towards the racks next time. Well it won't be long and I'll be on the bay to show you how it's done!!

turn it up
need I remind you of the scoreline last time we visited the bay bd ?
I got one ok flatty but i released it. It must have been a good bream as I still had the drag set heavy for lizards. As i said it hit really close to the canoe and the rod just didn't seem to have the stopping power. Don't get me wrong I am really happy with the squidgy, especially for lizards, but maybe a shorter rod for closer range spinning. |
