Shallow spools
Hi all,
I am doing some respooling and also have a new reel to spool up and as i am still trying/experimenting with straight thru fluro on my hards outfits i have a question. If you have say a 2000 reel with a normal spool and also a 2004 spool do you run braid on the shallow or the deep one if you are using one line type on one and the other on the second? And why? Thanks guys Mick. |

hey mate id load the bigger spool with the fluro id gues ya running low lb so the bigger spool will hold more if a biggin gets hooked. and ya braid on the smaller spool as ya braid will have such a small diameter you can put heaps on it . my 2cents worth lol

either way is fine mate but personally i would go fluro on a shallow spool as it has the finer drag adjustment and a lower turning inertia to protect that ultra soft 2lb fluro.
Also if it's a daiwa rcs shallow spool they can't are more fragile than a standard spool so i like the stretch that fluro can provide to protect that dear investment. But there are benefits for both on the shallow spool, mainly being the lack of backing... |
