Td Ito or alphas Ito

What Is better out of the two. I have had a play with an Ito and feels great but have not yet played with an alphas Ito. So how do they compare?

Hi Sammy,

I have both of these reels and my preference is the Td Ito. It is a bit smoother than the Alphas Ito and the first reel I look to for bass fishing.

HOWEVER. You can only use the Td Ito in freshwater and even then the paint work is pretty delicate.

The Alphas Ito is saltwater compatable and a more rugged externally and virtually the same weight.

Regards,
Gerard

alphas ito is not as smooth unless you do a few upgrades it just as good.
i think you should just get them both, each reel serve its purpose, some may have the slighter edge over the other depending what your throwing out.
i find it easier to cast out lighter lures on the alphas than the td ito, it maybe a refine and all but i wouldnt wanna cast anything light than 1/4oz because it seem like an effort where the alphas can do that for you.

Hi Sammy,
I own and use both reels. My personal opinion is, that in a comparison of the two mentioned reels, the TD-Ito is a clear winner. It's not even a contest really. More refined inductor rotor, more bearings, and lighter.

Both reels aren't really salt water friendly. The Alphas Ito's frame, and crankin side plate will take on water marks, even when only used in a fresh enviroment. It is very hard to keep in pristine condition if this is a concern to you.

Don't get me wrong , both very capable reels. But the TD is well and truly a class above.

My Ito. Has seen a lil bit of tuning in the 35 Garage.

Thanks 82, Seems a lil quiet there lately, and I haven't had much time for reels or fishin with my new baby boy.

About to put another on the bench this week if I find the time. It is a reel that holds some special memories for me, including my first Australian Bass many years ago. It's the only Shimano in my possession...The original Calcutta 50.

Got some parts comin in for her as we speak. Can't wait to hand it down to the next generation...My lil girl. It will be her first baitcaster.

Sorry to take the thread off track Sammy. Roll on the related info.

Hi mate,
The stock spool in the TD-Ito is awesome, and I have mine here somewhere. I only changed for capacity reasons, as it sees Barra amongst other species. I also like the feel the fixed rotor design offers during casting too. This spool is of that design.

It is from the ZPI stable. They come in deep and shallow versions, in many different colours also. I added the silicone carbide bearings to this particular spool, although some versions come from ZPI with SIC's as a factory installment.

I got my friend in Japan, which I am very lucky to have, send it for me. They can be found here and there though, and I wouldn't at all say they are rare. PM me if you would like some info on trackin one down.
