What bearing grease do you use?
Okay as it goes it is time to give the Trailer bearings a grease
again. SO what grease do you use ?? and why ? Is there one you wouldn,t use and why ?? the reason why i ask is i normally i use castrol boating grease but i had a bad batch.Very sloppy not tacky and had a water issue like 1.5 months into that packed set of bearings. Everyone i ask says doesn,t matter. Also i have been told don,t use boat grease as you should use bearing grease as it has a higher temp point. But will have no water repellant properties at all. thanks for any of your thoughts |

IMO, if you are greasing wheel bearings, then you need a grease that is for that purpose..
There are quite a few "general purpose" greases on the market that are suitable for use in ball joints, chassis, and wheel bearings.. I dont favour one brand over another, I buy whatever is cheapest or available at the time, but I do stick to the well known brands.. For me, I would choose something like this http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...03#Description as I would rather have only one grease gun to do the bearings on my trailer, as well as the balljoints and tailshafts on the old Cruiser.. The other option you have is HTB grease like this.. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...06#Description .. Personally, I would NOT use marine grease in my wheel bearings UNLESS it was designed for the purpose like this one.. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...25#Description

I use the castrol boating grease, no worries at all, just checked them recently and all good after 2 years, washed and put them back in.
