the victorian experience

In our State (Vic) we pay for a license 25 bucks a year. we have seen thru a gov by back scheme the banning of netting in nearly all the estuaries. I think lots of anglers are happy. Along with this we are SLOWLY seeing some improvements for land based fishing eg board walk at bemm (u needa boat) river, more cleaning facilities.

There is a group of vocal anglers who are not happy, it was once said that Australia's rich are the new whingers, we should include a number of anglers.

marine parks may have taken a small percentage of our coastline, big deal have they given the go ahead for japanese trawler s to move in, NO way!!!

I have been involved in political lobbying in the past, one lesson is that you never over state your case! as for a number of fishos saying that it is only a matter of time that recreational fishing in Australia will be totally banned is not only lunancy but poor strategy because few will consider the case seriously.

dont get me wrong I AM TOTALLY OPPOSED TO ESTUARY NETTING.
and I love fishing OFF COURSE!!!.

Good luck in your campaign to getting netting banned in your State.
