It's just a slightly bigger reel, it wont affect your success. You will get used to the retrieve rate within the first 2 minutes and a 2500 would probably balance out a 7'+ better (depending of course, which rod and reel in particular)

i love my 2500 reels, daiwa or shimano ( shimano obviously smaller). I really dont think they are too big for estuary fishing at all and use them for pretty much everything!

Take your new rod to a tackle store and size it up with the reels that you've taken a fancy to. That way you will gain an understanding of what balances to your liking.
I use 2500's on my rack rod, balances nicely and a bit more line coming into the reel per turn of the handle. For my other rods I use 1000 shimano's.

200x's suck.
2500's for 4lb up, 2506's for <4lb or straight fc. Better line recovery, better casting and not thrashing out as easy are the main reasons I fish them. |

highly recommend,
only have one light tackle reel that's smaller than a 250x and I barely use it even though it's an exist ![]() the 100x's are just so little for me personally 250x size reels are much more versatile and tend to balance my outfits much more to my liking than anything else I only use Daiwa's though, sh!tmanos are a little smaller

just to throw ya off again, i refuse to use reels bigger than 2000 for breaming. not for any reason other than they're what i feel most comfortable using. i had a 2508 steez on a megabass kirisame 6'9 and while it felt awesome i didnt like it as much as the certate 2004 i tried on it. a 2500 sized reel comes into its own if you plan to chase snapper/school jew etc as well. if not i prefer 2000. good luck with your choice, no doubt you'll be happy either way

Best to tell us your budget for starters mate. Caster or Spin? The more information you give, the more we can give.

Stay true to your name and go with a daiwa. The SOL would be the best option in that price range.
