Report from last weekend -now with photos

Hey,

Got out for much needed fish last weekend, haven't hit the water for a casual fish for a while since the little fella was born.

Started early around a spot that has produced plenty of good fish, it was pretty quiet with not much happening. Hooked a little fella and fiddled around removing him from the hook, by the time I got him off and jumped back on the leccy a boat had moved in and camped in the spot.

Moved up to another rock wall and fished deep with wrigglers and could only manage a couple of little fish and a fiesty Tarwhine. Decided to head up river and see if there were any bream kicking about in the muddy water and to get an idea of how far the clean water was pushing in.

Tide was nearly slack and as only getting the odd half harted take. Knew it would be slow until a bit of run started to kick in, persisted and was rewarded with a ok fish on a Attomic in Muddy prawn. Took off a little further up stream and picked up a couple of fish on a Suji Chubby but still pretty quite.

Tide started to kick in and I changed to a black blade, picked up a little fella first cast and about a dozen mates came up with him. This happened about 3 times during the drift.

Decided to head back down stream for a last drift before pullinng the plug, the odd fish was comming aboard, but no size. Flicked the Chubby into a little eddy and came up tight, went deep and hard felt like a much better fish, worked the fish for a while and to my surprise a nice Jewie came up to the surface. My first on a crank and I was already thinking of ways to cook to him, he must of heard the sizzle because one more head shake and the lure parted ways. I don't usually worry to much when I'm out fishing, but this was dissapointing.

Continued down the bank and the lure got slammed, to my surprise a good Salmon took to the air. Lots of fun on 3lb and he spent plenty of time bouncing about before he slipped into the net.

Decided it was a good way to end the day and packed up my gear and set off for home.

I'll pop some pic's up over the weekend wen the little fella is having a nap!
