line lay problem

hey guys
was just spooling up my luvias (over 2 years old) and when it was done i realised that it was spooled quite unevenly with more line on one side of the spool aka the line is touching the lip on one side and there is atleast a 2mm gap on the opposite side of the spool. does anyone know why this is happening?

on memory i will fix if wrong

Well here is a future reference for members do a search

i was hard to draw to make it easy to understand

side of the spool or top or bottom of the spool...you were not clear...anyway...daiwas deliberatly have uneven line lay..eg..top heavy...its called their ABS system and is designed to throw the line over the spool lip without touching it and thereby reducing friction and resulting in longer casts...

but...this also reduces loose coils coming off the spool causing fluffies ...in fact a "v" shape line lay almost totally eliminates them if the reel is not overloaded...loose line gets tighter as it slips up and therefore cannot accidently leave the spool before its turn.

problem was occuring as when i spooled it on the last time i did not have anyone to hold the spool of line so i ran the line through my fingers causing the line to lay unevenly.

although you've already solved your problem, this is what I do.

run the line through a wet rag and step on the wet rag to get some tension when winding it in.

girlfriend refuses to hold my spools when I spool up anymore so i came up with this great idea ....

Bit of glue-tac on the base of spool and sit firmly on bench or floor..... does the trick for me.
