hardbodying the flatts

hey guys i have recently been out on the flatts trying to hard body for bream as the bream slowed down in the canals.
so i threw on a shallow jackal chubby with a 4lb leader, throwing it around weed beds and drop offs with not even a touch.
now i have never fished this spot before but it looked the goods

i was trying all sorts of retrieves including slow roll above the weed and 2 twitches and a pause and yet still nothing

can you guys offer me any tips?
it seems that i have lost my ability with hardbodies.

seems like you are doing the right thing by slow rolling chubbies. just keep persisting and you should get some.

What leader length did you use? Use a long leader or straight through fluro. Did you see any fish? Don't cast straight at fish if you see one, put it out in front or over the top of them. Cast as far as possible too and try use the wind.

Also try a suspending minnow type lure and try longer pauses.

I would use way longer than 1m. 2m+ at least I rekon. Go as light as possible down to 2lb.

As mentioned, fluoro straight through makes all the difference. Better casting distance, no pulled hooks, you don't have to worry about re-tying leaders and pretty much invisible underwater

Try all parts of the flats, I've been finding alot of fish on mudflats with minimal weed growth lately. Caught fish on both braid to leader (3lb to 6lb) and 3lb fluro straight through, but if you have only been using braid the fluro might be worth a crack. You got the slow rolling chubbys part nailed, but also try some atomic cranks and cranka shads in browny colours, they have been killing it where I fish. Also throw plenty of pauses into your slow roll, I've found the pause is key! Hope that helps mate

Wink

well Slick-Ackers, try a different bream lure like an SX40 or a plastic like a Gulp Shrimp or a squdgie Wriggler on the lightest jig head as possible (1/40th inweight), use either 2, 3 or 4 pound leader that should get you a few breambos.

Hey mate keep in mind you are probs doing everything right but with the cold weather we have had lately the bream may of gone deep for an early spawn run.

I was thinking the same thing as breamanater, they just may not be there
Then again still keep going cause i have also found the flats to be producing better than the canals, also with a quite quick retreive, ive pick up a few fighting to get the lure first.
