Customise Quinny Breezabout to side console with front casting deck.

G'Day all,

Been throwing around the idea of customising my quinny to a side console with casting deck at the front. From my opinion all I would need is to cit out the front bow where the anchor well is, halve the dash and support it, of course I would move all the wiring and such. Just wanted some opinions on this, whether or not it would compromise the structural strength of the boat by cutting out the bow and any other pitfalls I may be facing before I do it.
Thanks
Norto

if it is like this one it will be a big job.

might be easier to trade it for another boat.

if i was going to do it at all, i would just make it a tiller steer to save time/money and will have more deck space.

Hi mate

My dad and I are going to do a project similar to this one soon, are boats are almost the same. I'll send you a PM which refers you to a link which another guy has done, you should get a rough idea of what to do.

Here's our boat anyway..

Be prepared for alot of work and $,i did some work to a second hand boat i recently bought and you dont realise how much money you need to spend to make what you want, but the satisfaction of making something to suit your style of fishing is GREAT!!

Thanks for the replies,
Youngfisherman thanks for the link, that mod the guy did in the link you sent me was pretty amazing came up really really good. Been having a long look at my boat and I still think I will go with trying to modify it. The only thing I really want to know is will I compromise the structural integrity if I cut out the bow? I will try to post a pic as well.

if you cut any bracing in the bow, you will have to fabricate other bracing that fits with what your cutting out but still braces from where it was cut from???? if you know what i mean?

hard to explain but if you want to cut that curved front deck up to the anchor well, it will need at least some sort of stop end like what is there now and a brace for the electric again.

then you could build a new deck lowed down and weld more bracing under that.

if you are only taking it in the river, the worst that could happen is a lot of cracking in the hull.

wouldnt recommend it if you take it out in the bay.

could be a long swim home.....

Ideas

This is what i did we mine, might give you I few ideas
The Aluminum deck is removable, with the live well in the right hand corner
Gives me a casting deck without all the modification that you are planning, and can convert back for the family

Minn Kota mounted like this

thanks for taking the time to show me your boat Thunderace it does give me quite a lot to think about what you have done might have to be the way for me as well so as to not effect the structural integrity of my boat, that way when it does come time to sell and up grade I can do what you do and just pull off the cast deck. Thanks again.
