An extra bearing (under the spool I would imagine) and an air spool... Otherwise a Luvias, correct?

I have one ... basically a 2004 Luvias with a 40mm handle (45mm on Luvi), Custom 4.4 gear set (4.8 on Luvi), 8CRBB (luvi has 4crbb), its only 5g lighter but overall a better reel ... I use mine for Cranking HB's.

That looks sick but is it the Australian gekka 2004?
The luvias based one looks awesome for crankbaits + I just love my luvi. Is that what many luvias are called luvi?

There is no Australian exclusive version and internals at a bit different to a luvias. the mx 2004 has 4.7 gear ratio and 6+1 bearings which also lines up with the daiwa australia website

I bought one of those Geks from the States, had a bad experience as I got a dud, reel was grindy, noisy and rough. Also the paint finish is very delicate, mine had a few small chips brand new out of the box.

Anyone had a good play with these reels yet? Wondering how they feel after a couple of months of solid use. The price and weight sounds pretty tempting. How big are they compared to shimano sizes ? Could be a nice reel instead of getting a ci4 1000.

Is it just me or are half the people replying to this thread mixing up the Gekka MX and the JDM Gekka Jibin?

The one with the RCS gear pictures is the $200 Gekka MX if im not mistaken, made in vietnam on the foot of the reel.

Yes paps the pic is a blinged up mx 2004.

People stealth is looking at is jdm gekka worth 450
Not au version 200

This is why I feel daiwa have gone wrong.they have stuffed
there heritage
I think Users don't know what true a gekkabijin really is.
To me a gekka is a black beauty slow ratio 4.4 hardbody reel
Small handle light drag quality reel.
Which the Japanese jdm gekka basically is.
Australia get a cheaper version gekka mx and the infeet which wears the moon symbol,so for me destroys there legacy

Same as a emma there trademark egi reel.
They should have painted the white one
The orig colour green/purple left the colossal in the range
Which it was a good decision having a heavier version egi reel.
And dropped the inf version or painted that white.

If they dare to bring back airity it better be good.
And should sit nearly or if not at the top of there
Range.

Sorry for going off topic
Stealth as some one has said gear+handle prob just spool bearing
And double bearing handle rather then spacer.
Matty runs one so I would be trusting his judgement.

They certainly smoke different gear in the U.K .... looks like some sort of Luvias Frankenstein creation to me ...

The new gekkabijin looks similar to the gekkabijin infeet just to throw in more confusion.
