We do have a Trout Classic here in TAS.
This year it's OCT 8-9th Fished as one day at the Great Lake and one day at Arthurs Lake. Fishing is as per the bream comps - 7am-2pm and 2 per team. All fish must be released after they are measured. Photographs of each fish are required as; 1. on the brag mat and 2. with the angler before release. Details must be then recorded on a data sheet with measurement, angler and lure etc. Generally about 40 fish per team has been the number needed to reach the top of the podium. From memory 37 fish won the event last year but I can't recall the measurement. Can be fresh at that time too - Sunday morning at the Swan Bay ramp at Great Lake it was a balmy MINUS 7 degC...... ![]() We managed 3rd at Arthurs and 5th overall out of my 3.9m tinnie. We were a little outgunned on the Great Lake in some horrendously windy weather.

The Dart Cup (Dartmouth) has a 'live weigh-in" I believe. But they certainly don't like wells that much, not like bream anyway.

Photo and release is the only sensible option (presuming you don't want a kill and grill comp).
Tassie has had these for the last few years and they work well. Pat |
