ideas needed for VERY basic bream boat

ive been given a hull(no motor) and a trailer, both old and crappy and in need of some work. however thats not the hard part. i have no clue what the hull is nor do i know the hp rating. its 10ft long. i wanna turn it into a bit of a bream boat on the cheap. was considering just a flat floor and a bow mount watersnake. as well as a 6-9.9hp motor as well. obviously im not looking to break any speed records. any thoughts, ideas, motor recommendations etc etc. also iwont be fitting a livewell to keep weight down and because i dont fish tourneys cheers all

you can either go a 9.9 or another option would be a 5hp or under so it doesn't need to be registered,

food for thought...

I'd give it a good sanding down to remove any old flaking paint, etc, and then I'd paint it with a durable 2 pot paint, which would make it look fresh and new. I would then add a small low carpeted floor. You don't want a full width flat floor as it will be too high, causing the boat to be very unstable at rest when you're moving around in it. A low floor would only cover about a half of the floor of the boat, but it will make moving around much easier and more comfortable, especially with bare feet.

I'd even consider glueing carpet around the thwart seats, which would give you a better grip for your feet, plus you could lean your expensive rods against the carpent without the worry of vibrations marking and damaging your gear.

Then I'd fit some good quality rod holders where they're within easy reach of both seats.

Just one more thing. I think you should consider fitting a transom mounted electric to your 10 foot dinghy instead of a bow mounted job. A transom mount is quite a bit cheaper for a start and it would work almost as well on such a small boat. Another reason for fitting a transom mounted electric would be that you're most likely to be sitting on the rear thwart seat most of the time, so you could easily reach the electric motor without having to move up to the front. Anyway, it's food for thought.

in sa any motor has to be rego'd as far as i can tell so far.

wind knot- im actually gonna sandblast it at work then get my mates uncle to paint it. 2 cartons of beer later she'll look schmick. kinda lol. the only reason im considering a bow mount is that i like the idea of a pedal operated setup so i can steer/hold position while snag bashing or cruising the flats. the tub will only really be used in the port river and some small sheltered coastal creeks. as for the floor i agree 100% with covering a small part of the floor. i didnt quite explain that bit properly. a 9.9 should realistically be all i need coz will only ever fish 2up. cheers guys
