gladstone bream

hey fellas im in gladstone for a couple of days and i am after some good fishing locations in walking distance from the marina or GAWB hatchery.
i fished in auckland creek right next to the pillons and got some cracker bream but then it rained, i caught 11 all up and my sebile crankster shows all the glory marks from it. i would like to know where i could go to get some bigger ones or more or even other species on hard bods and softies.
i have the full range of sebiles and many many different gulps and slams and all that so any help would be great.

11 bream in the one session would be the best I've heard off from Auckland.

The biggest bream I pulled out of there was 34cm and BP got a 36.

From what I heard, you need to head out further to the mouth to land bigger models.

As for other species, its hard to say. Trev are everywhere around there. Odd fish around that area. The smaller trevs/steelback would only take erratic retreives while the big trevs will only take a mid/slow bream retreive.

Moses and cod are found around the marina pontoons.

Flathead do come along on occasions but nothing worth catching.

The biggest thing I pulled out of there is only a 45cm trev which would be where you caught all the bream on a strong current flow...

thanks mate i will give walking out further a try.
i had a go all over the marina and only caught a stingray.
but yes i got 11 and all pics of them. one was pretty big, i would really love to pick up some flatthead and what not aswell. i need a place close to like the GAWB hatchery or marina i could walk to and get bream after bream.
all the 11 bream were in one hour too then it started pouring and killed the fishing. and froze me. oh well trying some sebile Acasts and Koolies on some barra tomorrow hopefully and back to breaming thursday

I was in Gladstone end of last week. BUgger the bream!
The fishing I had there was up there with the best I have ever experienced! Not apples with apples but as good as some of my Nomad trips and in some ways better.
Fish the Boyne River
Within a 500m stretch of river no more than 300m from the boat ramp a mate and I scored 56 barra to the boat averaging around the meter mark in 3 days of fishing!
We pulled hooks/smoked by double that and must of missed a double that again in bites! We were releasing meteries next to the boat, got very blas`e on size by the end of day one. Smallest would have been 90cm and largest went 125!
We just fished soft vibes and got smacked all day long!
Heres a 116 from day one. I think it was one of 5 meteries I scored that day and look, you can clearly see the boat ramp in the background!

Yeah it was with Jason for the 3 days.
River was alive with them, the down and side scans were incredible with fish flowing down the river with the current, thousands of the buggers just kept coming! If I didnt see it with my own eyes I wouldn't belive it!

Gotta get that HDS with scan on my yak for sure! It's gotta be the closest thing to cheating!

We fished Jackall soft vibes and transams plus a big blade. It's hard fishing and very technique sensitve specially with that current flying down the river at the moment with the spring tides. Just make sure your lure gets to the bottom and cast up into the current and fish it back to the boat. Had heaps of hits directly under the boat to.
Best bite time was hour before to after tide change so you have slow water and can fish slowly. Dusk it was nuts, dawn we struggled but I think that was from lack of sleep....
