Buffing reels
Hey guys,
Just wondering if any of you blokes know if there is a good way to buff a reel or get rid of the appearance of shallow scratches? Ive just purchased a reel that i havent been able to find for ages, only downside is it has some shallow scratches on it, and id love to be able to fill them in, or at least make them look less noticeable. Any special tricks that you guys use? |

You could try a cut and polish that is used on cars?

will keep those in mind. Touch up pen sounds good too.
Just gotta make sure nothing can damage the reel or anything, not everyday you get your hands on a millenium stella

I think in reality, unless you have some skills in fixing things like that - I wouldn't touch a reel worth lots, as you might (probaly) make it worse and remember, its a reel....if you use it will get bumps and scratches, if you want it as a trophy, buy a stand for it and put it on the shelf.

For surfaces without any paint or coating, I use Cape Cod metal polishing cloths. It can polish any metal into "mirror" and very good in removing scratches on the glass surface of your watch.
But for Stella I think they hv a "coating" on it? If the scatch going too deep and u polish too more, the coating would be gone. |

Kakaryan, sounds like the stuff I want! Will check out some more details about the product/related products and see if I can use it on this reel. Will post pics of before/after, after I work out what the best option is |

If you're going to go down the path of car polish, use a cream based one that is not a cut. Remember car paint is layed on much thicker than what goes onto a reel and a cut really bites in and removes a thin skim of paint, hence light scratches come out. The cream based ones like Kitten Cream Polish are not as harsh and don't bite into the paint as much. Last thing you want is to remove paint off the reel !!

definitely will keep that in mind mate when choosing and applying something. God knows i dont want to make it worse, haha. Im thinkni I should just polish or something, polished surfaces tend to look neater.
Thanks for the assistance |

G I think you should wait til you're done using it. Wear is inevitable, you'll only be going in circles
I'd practice on a crap reel first
