IMO dont always compare any newer model Daiwa's reel with the Tierra, cos the Tierra is in fact a quite old model now and this gets boring. Time goes by and everything have changes / improvements.

If you are thinking about the quality....well...maybe they are similar. I dont know cos I havent had a Tierra.

At least, I dont see their bodies are exactly the same. (Not like Sol and Caldia share the same thing but just different paint job)

Besides, the EMI 2506 weights 235g while the 2500 Tierra weights 275g. Do you think with the air spool and the eva knob instead can have a 40g reduce in weight? If you are stilling wondering their body materials and internals are the same........

It is a bit unfair to do this kind of comparision IMO. For example, the Abu Revo baitcast series reels all share the same body frame, but u won't judge they are all the same/similar, will u? I believe every products have their places.

Cheers.

the closest thing to the tierra was the egee, emeraldas infeet runs a different body and internals to the tierra. As kakaryan said the tierra is ancient and daiwa have come along way since then.

I got the Emer from Japan very early since it has been released. Now I hv used it for about 6 months and it is still as smooth and no any problem. For that price I hv no complaint (actually it cost me more for pre order then u buy it right now.) If u like it just give it a go. Cheers.

internals are pretty well the same as the new mx, they were both released as affordable tournament reels.

Haven't hooked anything testing on it yet but it's definitely a nice reel for the cash. It will do everything you want a bream reel to do, line lay is perfect as you would expect from any daiwa and it handles nicely, mine has a slightly geary crank but nothing majorly noticeable.

The only disappointment came when I picked it out of the box, it wasn't cold; which meant the body and rotor are plastic, which personally i'm not to fussed about, it's just the fact that it wasn't mentioned anywhere! bit deceptive. i mean, even the tierra had an aluminum body

but all in all the emma inf is a good reel no doubt

If you can see past all the small improvements they have made such as the fake engine plates ect, you can see that the body is very similar to the tierra, mainly so that it can support the tierra based internals. The difference in weight is due to the difference in the body material (plastic or whatever vs. metal), metal spool vs. resin/metal hybrid spool, and other small things such as the handle, knob ect. I have felt both of the new MX reels and they remind me of the E-GEE for some reason. Anyway, that is just my personal opinion.

Let's not forget the price point. Ray annes have the emeralds for 205. Not sure how much a Tierra retails for these days, usually one would pay top dollar for things like the hybrid spool ect. Anyhow the emeralds look pretty cool for a 200 dollar reel. All new reels these days are a derivative of a previous model.

If you mean they are built off the platform of a previous model could you explain the '10 Certate or new Saltiga?

Thumbs up

daiwa already had saltigas and certates, they have been reworked into new reels, daiwa wouldnt have a new saltiga or certate unless they had something to improve on first. otherwise the original certate would have come with air rotor and mag seal ect.strip down some daiwa reels and you will get more of an idea what im talking about. i was not at all saying a new saltiga is a blinged up tierra.
