reel stands, i think they are fairly standard on some of the higher end shimano reels (JDM models anyway). it's to protect the bail arm, rotor collar and guides from wear if you lay the rod down.

the rolling hook keeper for daiwa does the same job.

I had seen these a while ago, butt according to a review they got on plat they are hook holders and not stands???
here

Review:

I tought that this hook holder is something like a Yumeya reel stand for a Shimano. But for some reason this holder can be attached to the drive gear instead of the body of the reel. If you turn the handle, this holder is also turning around. It makes an open space between the body and itsef, a clear path for some filth to the gears. More to the point, a Yumeya stand is protecting the reel from damages, but if this RCS holder gets a punch, it can save the reel from the cosmetic failure, but can damage the drive gear (again: it's attached to the drive gear, not to the body). An absolutely bad construction in my humble opinion.

heres a better pic of what im after (but for daiwa not shimano) if they even make them anymore..

your first pic is pretty good ( near seen that before)it looks like a airity era reel
and it has the spigot on it

I am pretty sure the daiwa rolling hook roller
screws into the main gear so only fits real 4 reels
which it turns when you wind the reel and the hooks sleeve rolls around as it is on a bearing

but the shimano ones pictured screw into where the cover cap would go
but Fisho 1990 as you allready know the one pictured you put up is titanium and as a bank account killer
there is also the aluminium version which is about $40

PS fisho 1990 i could have a look to see if the daiwa cap and shimano will fit in each other
will check tonight

thanks for the help guys , haha yea most the add-on customized bits and pieces are over priced ..
just to confirm , if I buy one of these:

http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/p...nd-type-b.html

http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/p...l-stand-m.html

http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/p...l-stand-s.html

they will fit daiwas ??
I just checked and the older daiwa (emeraldas and airity) caps DO fit onto the real 4 platform reels.. that means if these reel stands fit newer daiwas they will also fit the older ones??

sorry for all the questions I just dont want to but one of these expensive spiggots only to find it wont fit..
thanks guys! ,henry

I think its an airity (?) with the spigot stand and the studio ocean mark spool and double handle.
the older daiwas are great imo

The shimano one is purely a stand that screws into the actual body. The daiwa ones screw into the main gear, so if the handle turns, so does the the stand. The daiwa one also acts as a hook keeper.

Why dont you just use the handle? it will keep everything clear of the floor and wont scuff like the bling bits??
