sustain or ci4 stradic

which reel do you think would be better in the 2500 size, sustain or ci4 stradic. I recently owned a stradic and loved it, but then i lost it, long story short rod fell of the boat and landed in the water and i didnt do it. but im just wondering which reel you guys think is better?

For a finesse reel, the Ci4 would be the way to go. I am not saying that it can't take a beating, but the carbon infused material just isn't as solid as aluminium. So if you want to use it for anything from bream to snapper, I would go for the sustain.

Sustain gets my vote. In saying that if it's a strictly breaming real you want then the ci4, but if you want anything more than bream go the sustain. I use my 1000 to chase snapper and other little inshore reefies and it laps it up. Choice is up to you

I agree.
If you grab the reel While it's on the rod and move it around you can see it flexing at the stem.
Saying that it seems to hold up pretty well under pressure.
I've had fish pulling line of with the drag set at about 3kg and the reel didn't even flinch.
I do think the sustain will outlast the ci4 over a longer time of heavier use.
One place the ci4 stands out on it's own is the weight.

I know people who chase Barra on the 2500 Ci4 without any hassle.

In saying that, aluminium would still be your better option for a larger variety, but the Stradic Ci4 can still handle very well under pressure.

I've caught quite a few rat kings up to 70cm on the ci4 2500 and handled them with ease.

Without doubt either will be fine for what you want to do. The sustain is the better reel but if you want a lightweight reel, go the ci4. Whichever you go with, you won't be disappointed.

Giventhe sustain has an alli body and probably better internals, I'd say the sustain.

i have the sustain in a 2500, its my bush whacking finesse reel, ie a reel i take in rough country and dont mind getting knocked around. since moving north, its handled a few queenies, a small gt, and a couple small to medium barra with ease. had the reel yonks and is only self serviced, feels like new.
some guys are using the ci4 to good effect on the barra on bream gear seen, so i guess either would do the job.

cheers
