Which should I chose? :)

Hi there,

I'm definitely ordering a Luvias 2500, but also after a 2000/2004 size reel so that I don't have to take my Steez out in the kayak.

The two reels I'm looking at are:

Luvias 2000 - $342 delivered
Gekkabijin MX 2004 - $209 delivered

The rod(s) will be - Luvias LFS 4-8lb 7', Pflueger Patriarch XTR 2-6lb 7'6", Pflueger Asaro 2-4kg 7' and Berkley Pro Tactic 2-4kg 6'7".

Now, it's obvious which is the better reel.. However, for my use (kayak and land based) is the Luvias worth the extra $133?

Line will probably be Linesystem bass hard PE 0.4 (4lb).

Cheers,

Matt.

Don't worry.. Ordered 1x Luvias 2000 and 1x Luvias 2500.. Figured the Zaion material alone should make the Luvias the most kayak friendly of the bunch.

I had considered the option, but ruled them out due to weight issues. They're heavy, like most shimanos.

Wanted 200g~ for the luvias 4-8lb, 220g~ for the 6-10lb... Turns out the Luvias reels I've chosen match perfectly to those weights.

Get both! Then you have a excuse to get another rod

Yet to use a MX so can't comment on them but I know I love my Luviases!

Are you getting a DA or the silver one?

I really wanted the silver ones, if for no other reason than to match the silver rods. I had a couple potentially lined up, but both owners couldn't bring themselves to part with them.... Soooo, I've got the blue DA's coming.

The Steez gets more action than any real that I have ever owned. It still will, just not from the confines of my kayak where it's life and longevity are at risk.
