Good session today

Hey,

Hit the water about 7.30am this morning, tide running up to a high about 10.30am.

Hit the first spot, plan was to fish plastics early and then move up river as the tide was rising, rigged a bloodworm wriggler and flicked in nice and tight to the rocks, couple of hops and on a little tacker. Drifted down the wall and pinned a 29cm fish, getting better.

A couple of blokes on th shore wander past and tell I need to move up to where the better fish are ..... on cue zzzzzzzzzzzzz, a nice fish of 33cm to the fork. Eddy expert continues onnhis way and offers no more advice. A couple of pics and back into it .... zzzzzzzzzzzz I hook the twin brother another nice fish just under 33cm to the fork.

Going well only been on the water an hour, next cast zzzzzzzzzzzzz, no stopping this one makes it back to the rocks and pops the 3lb leader. Goes a little quite, look at the water temp it is down to 18.5c, decide to head up river.

Time to give the deep Chubbies a run, pull out one that I have had pimped and give it a whirl, a couple of bumps then Wack, good fish takes off and I get stiched up in the rocks again , no more pimped chubby. Tie one the new colours I just bought repeat of scenario 1. Two chubbies gone!

Decide to head to another spot further upstream, hook and land a ok Fish on a Suji, catch a few more then decide to change to a new pink Chubby. It goes well catch a few more average size on it and decide to retire it. Tie on a Brown Suji, fish have gone a bit quite but pick up a couple more.

The wind has now started to blow pretty hard and the tide has stoped, decide to try surface around shadows at overhanging trees, tie on a Sammy. Not as east to cast straight with the wind and only gettin half hearted bumps.

Tie on a Megabass Pop X, recently got a few but haven't used them much. See a couple of prawns skipping, put the Pop X on the money and come up tight to small trevor. Run down a little further and pick up quite a few fish that are sitting in the shade tight to the bank.

Decide to head back down stream to a spot that has fished well for me in the past. Plop the Pop X down next to a overhanging branch, get smashed and totally stiched up by a good fish. One Pop X gone , frustrating to get stiched up on 12lb leader.

Pull out another Pop X and back into it, land in next to a jetty. Plop, plop, see two little fish materialise behind then its gets sucked under. Set the hooks and this is good fish, now fishing locked up drag with 12lb leader I wrestle a 34cm to the Fork out . Continue down the bank and steady stream of fish with another couple of good fish, it has been a very good day.

Finish the drift, pack up for the day and head home. Bream in shadows on high tide in the middle of day works very nicely, the better fish came once the tide started to run out. I usually get lots of small fish on the surface with the odd better one, but today was the exception with good fish conistently of the surface. Smaller fish tend to just push the Pop X around, the big fish don't .

Really good day with probably 30+ above 25cm to the fork, here is some pics

Sounds like a good day on the water mate.

The pink chubbie looks a different coloured pink from the pink chubbie minnow?

Yep, good to get some better fish on the top. Its been tough to get fish on top this season with all the dirty water, weekend was the first time in a while it has started to clear a bit. Mind you it does make them a lot easier to catch on placcies and hard bodies.

Cheers,

Dabreama,

Picked it up from my local tackle store, they are the new Salt water version. There is a few new colours that look good. There is also a version of the good old Brown Suji with bright pink eyes and some other cool colours that I haven't seen before. They come in a blue packet as opposed the original black one, apparently Harry has just bought them into the country recently and you should start to see them in stores as they restock..

One thing is they don't have the usual clip on the eye of the lure bib, you need to tie a loop knot or use a small snap. I used decoy 00 and they swam perfectly.

Cheers
