WHO HAS A STRATOS 285 xl?

G'day all,
As the title sugests i am after opinions from all comers on the stratos 285xl.
I have spoken to a couple of members regarding the 186xt and thank them for the help.
Hopefully there are a few 285 owners out there that can shed some light on to the handeling ride comfort durability quirks performance or any thing really.
I am about 95% sure i will be geting one of these late in the year.
They seem to have the best amount of room speed and storage for the best price.
An all round good deal.
I will be doing the bream and bass tournies with it not having a crack at the AFC or anything yet but i want a decent tournament rig so yeah what are your thoughts
Thanks guys,
PS i promise to stop asking anoying boat questions once i buy a boat.

Thumbs up

I have a 285 pro xl with a 150 optimax. The boat is now approaching 4 years old and the motor 410 hrs now.

Love the boat and in 4 years ,All i have break was the cigarette lighter plug and as from last weekend one of the live well pupms has gotten sticky. Mine came with two pumps.

The fastest I have had my boat to has been 52 knts . Not that I go that fast, that was a reare event.
The boat has loads of storage space, the larger rod locker quite happily hold 8 rods in a rack 7foot odd long.
As for handling,, I am not really the best guy to ask as I avoid rough days out fishing.
But I really am very happy with the boat, storage ,comfort, fishability.

One thing that really did annoy me was that when I had some issues with the american brakes no one could help me so have since changed the axle and brakes to standardised Aussie.

If had to buy a new boat tomorrow. I would get another 285 pro xl.

This boat has loads of room. you will not be dissapointed when fishing out of it. And that is the most important part .

Cheers

I wonder why Stoner is selling. Maybe he was offered a extreemly good deal after he bought a Stratos look who is selling it

Thats a nice boat with heaps of options but it would have been bought when the dolar was low and will not get what he wants for it. ImO it is Stoner, does he do anything slow? Run in? doubt it hahahaha

What price did you get for a 285xl and what options?, the options really add some price.

Most of the options dont matter that much. The trailor is the main thing, you wont get much out of a freshwater trailor in Australia, ask any of the guys that have made the mistake of getting a road armor trailor

I can't believe Dodgyback (Mick's) boat is 4 years old, and has that many hours on it. I saw it on Saturday at a comp and it still looks the goods. BTW I hate the colour of Stoner's Stratos, Yuk! Hey Mick put a pic of your boat up, it's a heaps better colour scheme.

G'day all and thanks for the reply.
Peter from Sports Fishing Boats Australia, SFBA in penrith NSW, has qouted me (roughly) 43-45k for a Stratos 285 XL with a aluminium trailer and a 150 hp mercury pro xs, and a 24 v minn kota all taxes transfer and rego.
Also that includes hoot foot pro trim the tacle organizer and plano tackle boxes.
That is with the dollar at parity ($1AUD=$1USD) and he is a good bloke too, so if you are in the market i cant recomend him enough.

PS i am in no way affiliated with SFBA nor am i sponsered by anyone....at all, im not even that good at fishing.

But i have done my research and am convinced that this boat is the one for me.
Cheers
