yep I rate it if your after something tough.
also 5lb is a very conservative rating, more like 9 or 10lb.
cheers

Breaks at around 11lb... Good line, just a little thick for the rating IMO.

Have to mention that I have used the 8lb quite a bit as well. Agree that it is very strong but found it a little thick. Also notice that I got some line twist but I have never tried the 5lb so was curious? The heavier stuff as been flautless on my surf gear.
My supplier has it for $28 delivered and that is a full 300 yards

yea i believe it has the same diameter as 8lb fireline, but breaks heavier than 8lb anyway.
but it still casts well, and i havn't had a problem with wind knots as yet.

There is no way that power pro 5lb is the same diameter as 8lb fireline... Wait, I'll check.

Fireline

8lb 0.180 (claimed dia) 22.64lb (breaking strain) .190 x .264 (diameter) 0.227 (average diameter - L+W/2)

Power pro
5lb 15.41lb (breaking strain) .125 x .232 (diameter) 0.178 (average diameter - L+W/2)

Now against 8lb power pro
8lb 0.127 (claimed dia) 17.85lb (breaking strain) .153 x .258 (diameter) 0.205 (average diameter - L+W/2)

Thanks fellas,
doesn't look like there is a big difference in diameter between the 5lb and 8lb (power pro)?

It's noticeable on light gear.. Seriously, the 5lb won't break on a bream anytime soon.

Powerpro is really crap mate, Alot of people rate it only because its cheap and doesnt break. Honestly it holds heaps of water (READ HEAPS) is fairly thick for its weight (but not massive)

BAD:
Its also got a slight memory when new (not important it goes away on 2-3 sesh)

After 1/2 hours spinning ive got it spraying water all on my reel (and clearly dumping salt water into the bail bearing.) and onto the rod. While I'm not really fussed and it wont cause me to throw out the braid its certainly not going to make me buy powerpro again. Good braid is $10 more, why skimp?

It frays fairly badly, deffinately at the knot but I spot small frays every few meters. Dont think it will effect performance. Just like puffs of fabric?

Good:

I'm yet to see it fade in yellow though, which is impressive. Even my Fins fades 5-6 sessions later.

This weight it takes on helps in weightless baits like bread as you can certainly gain distance as if its almost a fly thingo..

Just buy Fins, or better.
