Yamaha Motor choice - VMAX 150, 175 or 150 4 stroke
Just chasing peoples thoughts on these motors. Will be purchasing one of these and not to familiar with Yammy's. Not concerned with the price side of things, more like any issues with electrics, sensors, etc.

Never been on a boat with a VMAX on the back, but I have been on a boat several times with a 150hp Yamaha 4 Stroke, very nice engine, quiet like a 4 stroke should be, plently of power to get the boat going and it doesn't take much fuel. No mechanical or electrical problems yet, but the engine is only about a year old. Any reason why you are only considering Yamaha outboards?

Hi mate whats it goig on the back of?
If its a bass boat the i would reccomend a two stroke becuase they are made to be reved flat out all day long and id go for the max horse rating on the boat wether that be 150 or 175 A two stroke would be my choice if i was to go for a bass boat. But if its a hybrid boat or a bay/ocean boat you couldnt go wrong with a 4 Stroke. Better fuel economy, can troll ten times better, It would be the better option for this type of boat in my opinion |

Would like to put on the 640 Dan, but the Mrs is scared of flying
![]() Nitro is going and is being replaced with more of an ocean/bay boat. Looking at a new package and they tend to do good deals with a yammy on the back. Most of the info I've received from the states leans towards going the four stroke, but I know the VMAXS aren't a bad option as well. |
