Kokoda vs. SX40F

Ok I know there is no comparison but the cheap Kokoda sprog (<$5) is very similar in weight and size, some good colours too.
I find they don't have as responsive wiggle and when they suspend they lean backwards, but has anyone nailed some Bream on a KoKoda sprog? Or has anyone altered them with different rings, trebles or hooks?

Overall I think it'll be handy to have a lure to swim in a very, very snaggy area and not stress about losing it.

Kokoda lures are absolute junk, they break so easily, big bream have no trouble crunching cheap plastic, and you may loose a something big because of it. Not worth the $5.. Not worth the risk.

Sx40 is a far superior product in every single way, but we all knew that already

ET makes a lure exactly the same as ecogear sx40.cant remember wat its called or tryed it but they look the goods but could be cheap plastic and easy to break

Kokoda sprogs sink and don't slowly float to the surface like an sx40f when the retrieve is paused. Lost it to a snag.

The ET sprog I think is the kokoda sprog is different packaging.

The one I bought was ET / Kokoda, same thing. They look good but like Minowman said I would now be worried they will break.

Price isn't always everything - I returned a $20 new Shimano bream lure that was leaking inside.

Still interested in everyones thoughts tho - cheers

Alittle like chalk and cheese, hate to say it but the jap's know how to make and perfect there lures.
Only thing better than an sx is a jackall.

The sprogs work mate.

Plenty of fish have been landed on them, plenty of those being bream.
The trick to working the sprog is not to pause the lure as they do sink tail first, which cant really be rectified by mucking around with split rings and hook sizes!

Work them with a slow roll and a few small jerks in between.

I upgrade the hardware to owner hooks and rings so it does add a few bucks to the overall price.

Great option for chucking into a snag infested area, especially for trout but 95% of the time when I'm out Breaming I'll go the SX over the Sprog; just an awesome lure.

But a few of the nicer coloured Sprogs are great to have stashed in the tackle box IMO.

by the time you stuff around with different hooks/rings to make it float corectly. you might as well have bought the real thing.
besides, they never swim straight anyway......

i bought a sprg today cause i was bored mainly but i wouldn't mind giving it ago

I have both of these lures. I have caught some very large bass with the sprog and they are holding up fine. Yeah they may be cheap but they work. Only ever had 1 that got busted up, and it wasnt from a fish, I cast it straight into a rock with speed.
I like the way they slowly sink, if you really slow down your retrieve(test how slow before you cast to get it to sink horizontal) n let it sink it doesnt go bum first but has a tantalising little wiggle.
Hope that helps. I use both lures, usually start with the sx then switch to the sprog so it sinks hoping for the bite.
BTW both lures catch Bream n Bass. I just havent caught any large Bream(30+) with hardbodies to comment on that aspect. Cheers Gav.

another kokoda lure that i liked was the koji minnow. it looked a bit more solid (material wise) and it worked well on bream once i got it to float after i mucked around with the split rings

they work but not as well as sx40s. u need to find the right structure for them. They sink tail first which to me is an advantage for spooky bream in deeper water.

The bream below i caught on an sx40 it went 41cm. so u do get big bream on them

Have a look at DohDohDoh>> they have heaps of cheap bream type lures if that's what your after
