JDM Shimano servicing?

I have a 2000 '10 Stella that needs a service, Shimano Australia aren't interested (Some load of rubbish about not being able to get parts i.e we don't import that model so get lost)

Does anyone know where in Australia I might be able to get it serviced?

Tackle Warehouse at Coorparoo should do it for you ... I'm pretty sure they only send certain Daiwa reels back for official servicing and I think the turnaround time would be quicker too!!!

try servicing it yourself.as long as the schematic are there, you will be right.in terms of parts...........normally doesnt need any.just clean n lube.
reason why shimano australia wont do your reels is not because they cant get parts (all shimano reels share the same internals parts, maybe cosmetically a bit different) but is they didnt make any $$$$ from you to begin with.lol.
if youre buying a lot of reels from o/s,its handy to do your own service as it will save you a lot of money in the long run and if ever theres any Q's,theres the internet for your answers.

I usually do all my own servicing, but being a reel that I am unfamiliar with internally I'm not keen pulling it apart. Although it looks like I might have to.

It is very dissapointing that Shimano Australia wont service it.
I'm not asking for warranty repairs just a service that I am 100% happy to pay for.

I don't believe for a second that they can't get parts either.
To be honest I think the attitude is very much behind the times. I have bought plenty of things overseas (cameras, bikes etc) and if taken back for warranty or service there was no problem with sourcing parts as long as you're happy waiting for them to be ordered from o/s.

As a general service on high end reels such as Stellas, shimano australia usually replace bearings such as the line roller, and usually exchange the main gear as well, more as a matter of course, (they usually do not charge these to the customer) being that you have an import they would not have these parts on hand, they might be the same but the part numbers will not marry up so there fore they would have to spend extra time to find the right parts, (if they are in fact the same?)

I spent many years servicing reels, and can understand why they have declined your request for a service and certainly can not blame them, would you be happy if it took months to return because they were waiting on parts from Japan. I doubt it!

Chances are you rang and asked if they could service your reel, they told you the truth and said no. At least they were up front about it.

Service it yourself and see how you go, if nothing else it will keep you entertained for some time!

Good luck, and patience, you might need it.

I don't doubt that there would be a wait if parts were needed, so be it.

Any part that needed replacing I would be happy to pay for including extra labor. I fully understand it would not be a straight forward job.

My frustration stems mostly from the fact that I went out and bought the flagship model the Shimano makes and Shimano Australia wont stand behind it because they don't import that particular model, its not as if they lack the capability to do it.

Maybe the easy option is to send it back to Shimano Japan.

Why contact Japan tackle? (or Platform?? who is that???) The postage would cost as much as the service. To be honest, any reputable tackle store that services reels can service your reel, JDM or not. If the parts is not available but if any equivalent part that is identical to it can be used, why cant it done. I can understand discontinued reels.

Thats real good help.....

Its a reel, it has no computer or electronic components that require replacing, so any shop that service reels can do it.
I do all the shop's reel servicing, I service my own JDM reels as well. Its not brain surgery and just need patience and logic.

Im sure if you need parts replaced on the JDM Stella 2000, it can be found in a 1500 local Stella.

PS: its Maserati...
