Talking Surface Lures

Whats the best way to fish surface lures and what sort of areas are they best used - flats / snags ?

Any tips appreciated as will be giving it a crack down south in a couple of weeks time.

Cheers

Depends.. if it's a popper or a walk the dog style lure

Walk the Dog

- Pretty obvious, learn how to walk a lure properly
- Either a constant/medium paced retrieve
- Put some pauses in 2-3 seconds

Popper

- Pop, pop, pop pause for 1-2 seconds for Bream

I prefer to use surface lures in shallower areas like flats or over weed beds but if you know the Bream are aggressive and feeding go for it in deeper water. Btw if you can i find the more translucent/see through the lure the better

And if it first you don't succeed try again!
