Avet sx vs. Saltist 20
Dad’s birthday Thursday and after him shelling out for a boat I reckon sacrificing a couple nights on the piss to get him something decent is in order.
Torn between the Avet sx and a Saltist 20. It will pretty well just be used for bottom bashing with 30lb braid and go on a custom built saber. Leaning toward the avet, but it will mean he won’t get it on the day. Advice from those that have used either would be really appreciated. Cheers, Matt |

i would be going a saltist, i think the 30 would also be a better size then the 20. Avets tend to have alot of problems, i had one myself for a while but got rid of it.

What kind of problems man? Seen a couple on international forums that have been machined dodgily, but other than that they seem to have a pretty good rep...
The 30 is a little cumbersome but may be the go. Tekota 500 is another option. |

Better comparison is the Daiwa Saltist Lever Drag 20.

Avets are pretty good but the SX is very small and requires a lot of turns to get line in. If you get one get the Raptor if you are going to fish anything over 8kg and would look at getting the next size up at least.
The JX Raptor is a nice piece of kit if you want some serious drag for fishing 24 kg or so.. |
