Stradic 1000 FI

Hey guys
A couple of Q'S

1.For the past week my reel has been sounding weird when i reel in tight line(a lure) but when im reeling in loose line it doesn't make the sound. Is this my roller bearing???

2. Also about 3 weeks ago my bail arm stopped clicking back into place easily and i have to fold it down to its winding position after every cast, which was fine for the first week but now its getting realy annoying .
Any suggestions on what needs to be done is greatly appreciated

thanks in advance
BB

1. Yep.

2. Bail arm spring? Manual foldings the way to go anyway, less stress on bail arm and bail.

1. Matt is probably on the money.

2. sounds like your bail return spring has seen better days. maybe pop the sideplate open, give it a clean etc and put it back together. ya never know what a quick clean up can do. but if your spring is worn.... not alot you can do. you may be able to get the part from the manufacturer. but that is up to you whether you think the gear is worth it or if there is too many troubles with your reel and just invest in a new one... if you do clean it out just be careful not to loose the spring. it has a tendancy to shoot halfway across the room when the sideplate is first removed trust me.... i learned the hard way \

saying that. not sure how old your reel is, but would this be an issue covered in the Shimano 10yr warranty? or does this classify as user wear an tear?

Does it still feel as if there is tension on the bail arm when you open it?

If so its probably not the spring but the part that initiates the release.

I almost never use the wind to close the bail arm anymore. Turn the bail arm back manually and grab the line to pull out any slackness so that I have less wind knot issues. Easy and simple and less wear and tear on the reel.

On the topic of bail return.. I've always done it manually. Feels 'cleaner'.

thanks guys the reel is only 1 year old and i do manually close the bail arm usually but it feels sorta stiff when it gets about 3/4 down so it slows down there
also how long do u rekon it would take to get these two parts replaced from shimano
Should be covered under the warenty anyway
Regards
