Hull Angle and freeboard

Hi All, im new to Bream Master and would love your advice. I have a 4.2m Quintrex topender with a 40hp yammy 4 stroke on it. I have only recently bought this rig and the issue that i have it is seems to sit a little low in the tail. I am worried that the 40hp is compromising my freeboard and making me a little less seaworthy. Does any one have any ideas or suggestions? I dont really want to add pods or anything and the hull is rated to 40hp but the trim at rest seems a little bum heavy. Thanks Ratty

Move your battery up into the nose?

Yep if you have concerns, move batteries, fuel, fish box etc. up the front of the boat. Should not be an isue though. It's a good idea to have a bilge pump fitted for piece of mind if you are worried.

Hi all thanks for the fast replies, the battery is mounted aft on the starboard side as it the drivers seat. (it is tiller steer). i have a 50l underfloor fuel tank fitted amidships which helps the balance and i do have a bilge pump fitted. i previously had a 4.6m centre console so im not sure if i have limited freeboard or if i just feel closer to the water. I know water is close to coming in when i reverse.

Hey mate, how did you end up going with this?

I've recently bought a 410 dory with a 40hp merc and she's quite bum heavy. I'm yet to get her out with the bow mount on and deep cycle up in the nose, but I'm working on a hunch that she's still going to be sitting fairly low in the backside. I'm contemplating having to put some sort of weight in the nose to gain a little freeboard in the rear.. Only real problem with these boats, very very low across the back. 20" transom where the motor sits, approx 31" from bottom of stern to very top of transom.

I went out yesterday with nothing in the boat but safety gear (false floor out, casting decks out, batteries out.. the works) and nearly took a wave on over the back.
