Cranka Shad Facts

Some members have raised questions regarding the differences between the Cranka Shad and the Shad being sold under the Usami brand name.

For the sake of clarity on this issue from the Cranka perspective I thought it necessary to finally spell out a few facts about the differences between these lure models.

Cranka Facts as follows:

The Cranka shad is designed to suspend in full salt and is weighted to allow the upgrade to ultra light hooks without the need to add sticky weight to re gain suspension. Many tournament anglers fish with Ultra light Trebles because of the increased hit to hook up ratio provided from finer wire trebles. The Cranka Shad was designed and weighted with this in mind. The Usami shad has one less weight ball internally (confirmed in writing from Usami) and therefore will float in full salt the Cranka shad will suspend in full salt. The Cranka shad is therefore heavier than the Usami Shad. Being lighter in weight the Usami model naturally does not cast as far as the Cranka lure model.

The Cranka shad has been designed to be silent with the addition of glass glue to create a silent action so as to cater to a tough clear water tournament bite. Most respected tournament anglers would be well aware of the benefits of a silent lure when the water is very clear and the fish are shut down. The Usami shad has an internal rattle and as most would be aware ratttles can be very effective for fishing dirty water or where you need to draw the attention of fish from a distance such as when fishing over weed beds and the like. Each has its merits!

Cranka individually hot water bath test every Cranka shad prior to packaging for release to our customers. The reason Cranka does this is because in testing prior to release we found that we had a small percentage of lures that leaked in our original shipment so to ensure that our customers do not receive a leaking lure we individually hot water test each lure prior to packaging. This hot water lure testing is done by Cranka management here in AUS.

Cranka's intention is to cater to the the Australian tournament angler and we believe we know and understand the wants and particular needs of tournament anglers when it comes to the fine lure adjustments needed for consistent tournament results.

The choice of which lure model you wish to purchase is totally up to you and each has is merits!

Just thought it necessary to let everyone know the facts once and for all so that they can make an informed choice about which lure best suits their fishing needs.

Cheers
Steersy
