New Boat - " RAZORBACK " Full Boar on Steroids

Sometimes we all have ideas on how to improve a branded boat & when an oppertunity arises to put it to fruiton, I jumped at the chance. It also gives us a feeling of acheivement when we do it ourselves. Full Boar boats came out in 2003/4 , assie designed & built , probably the first glass boats purpose built for our local sports fishing arenas. They came out in 3 sizes- 5.0 mtr, 5.5 mtr & 6.1mtr. Rating was 115 HP, but most ran around 90 HP. They had their pros & cons ! Great stability, loads of space , all GPR construction BUT they were hard rideing, a bit wet, porposed when un-balanced ( more so the 5mtr model) & turned like a fully loaded shoping trolley!!As everyone knows, they went belly up, not once but twice!! Around 25 full boars were sold around the country.I was lucky to purchase the very last Full Boar 5.5 hull from the factory, before the recievers came in when the company closed down jan 09'. It was in pieces ( hull, floor, internals& deck).I got it for a bargain price, so it was left to me to put it together. My best mate, was once the forman at the old full boar/barra bay factory, & intimatly knew their construction. He also had ideas on how to improve the shortfalls of the hull & performance of the old design. The transom ,even though well designed, was further reinforsed, with Kevlar & the hollow transom stringers were filled with more glass. The deck was then Plexused on to the hull. The engine well was also beefed up, to handle a re-movable ski pole ( creating a more family friendly boat ). Underneath , the hull was modified with a Kevlar reinforced running plank ( to help with tracking,& high speed running ) & a finer entry towards the front. Swim platforms on either side of the motor completed the hull. All bar the upholstery was done by myself .The Hull is now branded with my mates boat business, SBR Boats .He has rated this hull to 200 HP.We affectionaly call her " RAZORBACK " ( the Full Boar on steroids).I did run her with a carby 200hp merc , but found that fuel consumption was too high! Recently I aquired a Optimax 200 XS race motor. It was sitting on a CMC manual jacking plate, but soon will be on a CMC Hydrolic jacking plate ( to be able to fine tune performance ). Top end speed is still to be determined, however she cruises effortlessly at 75kph @ 4500 with a 25" trophy @ 34 lph.

Also fished from a 6.1......more than likely the same one kingy
They are a very stable platform but a little ...lets just say "agricultural " in their look.
When starlo got in with them and released the finnese model, things were looking a little better and they seemed to be on the right track.
I even made a few enquiries a few years ago but their website ( lack of update and contact details )and customer skills ( answering phones and emails )were nil.

Surprised only 25 were sold but not surprised they are not around anymore.

Boat companies need to realise that the internet is the number 1 way we look at whats out there these days....they need to have a good wesite and not let it get out of date.

Nice rig by the way ....that is some serious HP on that thing

Final Prop Testing Done !!!!!

I have been testing the girl with a number of props,to get the best out of the hull & overall performance, acceleration & top end.
The overall weight of the hull has surprised not only me ,but my mate the boat builder, alot more than the claimed weight the full boars were advertised. Most would say that with 200 + ponies she would be a weapon.
Well the results are in & the final prop that covered all the bases, ended up being 21" ENERTIA . Takes off like a rocket, cruses well mid range ( 65kph @ 4200 @ 32Lph ) & maxes out to 96kph @ 6300 @ 62Lph. The motor is a 200XS race OPTIMAX Rec rev range 6000 to 6500 & rev limiter cuts in at 6800rpm.
Anyway, time to enjoy the TOY , until the next project starts, Later this year..............4.9 mtr Carbon & kevlar reinforced , fully infused sports fisher, Will keep everyone posted as the project progresses!
P.S Happy New Year to all !!!!! Cheers MOJON

Sorry but that seems awfully slow and something is amiss. Most Prostrikes with a 150 are quicker. What gear ratio is you L/U?, And what does the hull weigh? I would be expecting at least 70mph from that boat/motor.

RE- top speed.

Powerbream & hooked!
This modified full boar hull, did surprise me because it weighs close to 800kg. Its like a full size billiard table on the water, mind you 95kph in this hull, is rock solid. And that was 2 up, full fuel as well! Comparing a Pro Strike with 150hp to a Full Boar with a 200hp Is like comparing a 6cyd torana Xu1 to a V8 commodore!
And to clarify re- pro strike with 150hp are quicker, sorry but I fish out of one with my team mate in the BETS series, it has a 150hp OPTI and when fully loaded with full fuel ,2 up & full live well, tops out at 86kph , & its one of the quicker ones out there!

Dang 800kg is heavy, Never the less still something is amiss. If your gear ratio is 1.75:1 or 1.62:1 then your slip percentage is way up in the the 20's.
And Your mates prostrike at 86kph fully loaded is definitely not one of the fastest out there.

but so long as your happy.
